Installation Figure 1

Installation Instructions For New Waves 1.5” Greens Unit

1. Choose a location for the installation of the New Waves unit and the grounding plate in the vicinity of a
green (see Figure 1). Try to keep the grounding plate within 25 feet of the New Waves Unit.

2. Unroll copper grounding plate and lay flat. Dig a trench 1 foot wide, 10 feet long and 3 feet deep to
contain grounding plate.

3. Once dug, apply 1 bag of carbon black ground enhancement material on base of trench. Lay ground plate
flat in trench on top of carbon black. Drive ground rod into soil until top is just below soil surface. Position
ground rod in same trench nearby the ground plate but not touching.

4. Position Cadweld Connector on top of ground rod and chemically weld copper wire from grounding plate
with copper wire to New Waves unit. Use Cadweld chemical welding kit. Two copper wires must thread thru
Cadweld connector and touch. Then follow instructions on chemical weld kit to fuse together.

5. Proper chemical welding requires addition of the welding powder, then the igniter powder. Cover the
ceramic mold and ignite with flint igniter. Allow welding material to burn completely and cool before
touching. Do not look at the welding reaction as it burns.

6. Copper wire from ground rod now goes to 6v battery and then to New Waves Unit.

7. Plumb 1.5“ New Waves unit into greens loop. Ideal location is shown in Figure 1. Flow direction is away
from the bolt stud on the the New Waves.

8. Connect copper wire from grounding rod to Negative Terminal on 6v battery using wire nuts. Run 14 gage
wire from Positive terminal on 6v battery to stud on New Waves. Crimp on eyelet connector and connect to
stud.

9. Once connected, check for 6v between stud on New Waves and ground wire. It is recommended to house
6v battery in some type of junction box to protect it from rain and soil.

10. Before burying ground plate, add another bag of Carbon Black on top of ground plate in trench, then bury
with soil.

11. Once New Waves is plumbed into irrigation line, isolate unit using cinder blocks so that soil does not touch
unit. It must remain suspended and not in contact with soil.

12. Install a valve box to allow access to New Waves unit below surface of soil.

13. Bury New Waves unit.
